Will County is dedicated to protecting your privacy.  We are committed to establishing and maintaining your trust.  We strive to assure you that when you are visiting our site, you are accessing official government information.  Will County reserves the right to deny or remove any link that contains misleading information or unsubstantiated claims, or is determined to be in conflict with the Official County Web site mission or policies.

In summary, our policy is to allow you to visit Will County Web site without collecting any personal information about you.  Our Web site is defined as those pages you visit within the "www.WillCountyIllinois.com" address.  In some instances, for the purpose of providing feedback or completing transactions, you are given the choice of providing us with pertinent information.

What Information is being collected from you and why?

Browsing Web Pages - When you visit the Will County website, the Web server automatically logs the following information:

The Internet domain you came from, such as "www.state.il.us"

The IP address from which you accessed the site.  This is a number unique to your computer.  It may not change or may change between visits if you connect through an ISP.

The Web page visited along with the date/time.

The browser type and operating system used to access our site.

The address of the Web site you came from when arriving at our site from their link.

This information does not result in the identification of your personal E-mail address or other personal information.

E-mail Address - We collect E-mail addresses from visitors who wish to conduct transactions or to be sent confirmation E-mail messages. We also retain E-mail addresses for the purpose of responding to requests for information.

Financial Information - Will County utilizes Google Pay, a third party on-line credit card service provider, and does not collect or store personal credit card information.

Email - Emails sent by you to the Will County become a matter of public record.

Survey Responses - We retain survey responses. This provides us the capability to improve our services to you.

Page Hit Statistics - We retain statistics on what Web pages have been visited.  We track information about the visits to our Web pages and compile statistics that show the daily number of hits.  These aggregated statistics are used internally to better provide services to the public.  The statistics contain no personal information.

What's going to happen to the information once it's provided?

We keep your personal information in our secure environment.  Will County does not rent or sell any information you provide.  The information is only used for the purposes for which you provided the information.  We may share information between government agencies and departments for the purpose of forwarding your request to an appropriate party for action.

Raw data logs are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction in accordance with State Statutes.

Will we divulge it, and if so, under what circumstances?

When processing online government transactions from you, it is absolutely necessary to share personal information with appropriate technology entities which process certain portions of these transactions, such as credit cards.

For authorized law enforcement investigations, we may need to comply in identifying individual users or their usage habits.

Information on our Web servers reside on a computer system operated and funded by Will County.  The use of this computer system may be monitored for computer security purposes.  Any unauthorized access to this system is prohibited and is subject to criminal and civil penalties under State and Federal Laws.
